LAGUNA COYUCA-PIE DE LA CUESTA
Esta hermosa laguna de agua dulce ubicada a 10 kilómetros al Norte de Acapulco tiene 17 kilómetros de largo por 8 de ancho y su profundidad máxima es de 7 metros. En ella se encuentra una amplia variedad de flora y fauna tropical y hasta 14 especies de peces comestibles, tales como robalo, lisa, mojarra, cuatete, malacapa, bagre, carpa y pargo de piedra entre otros, así como camarón chacal y de castilla, y jaibas que se venden en el pueblo de pescadores del Embarcadero.
Un recorrido en lancha le permitirá disfrutar del panorama de la majestuosa Sierra Madre y observar una vegetación tropical frondosa, palmares de cocoteros, manglares y lirio acuáticos flotando en las orillas y los paseará por la Isla Presidio, la Isla Montosa y la Isla de los Pájaros,santuarios de aves típicas de la región, en donde abundan garzas blancas y negras, pelícanos, patos buzos, marabús, avocetas, cigüeñas, gaviotas y otras aves tropicales.
En esta laguna se filmaron varias películas de Tarzán y Rambo ll y proporciona un magnífico escenario natural para rodajes de películas de selvas y aventuras tropicales.
With the majestic Sierra Madre as backdrop, this beautiful fresh water lagoon located 6.2 miles north of Acapulco is about 10.5 miles long
4.9 miles wide and has a maximum depth of 23 feet.
It has a wide variety of tropical flora and fauna and up to 14 different species of edible fish such as robalo, lisa, mojarra, pargo de piedra, cuatete, bagre and carp, among others, and freshwater shrimp and crabs, all of which you can buy in the small town of the Embarcadero.
A boat cruise will allow you to observe a lush tropical vegetation, with groves of tall, lanky coconut trees swaying in the breeze, mangroves and water hyacinths floating along the shore, and will take you to the Isla Presidio, the Isla Montosa o de Pío Quinto and the Isla de los Pájaros, which are bird sanctuaries full of black and white herons, pelicans, ducks, marabús, avocetas, gulls, storks and dozens of other tropical species.
The lagoon was the setting of several Tarzan movies and of Rambo ll and offers a superb natural film location for jungle and tropical adventure movies.
